Buddha Jewelry was founded on love and respect for piercers in our industry and people of all cultures, communities, and backgrounds across the globe. The Mandala Project is our way of supporting causes we care about through charitable donations. It allows us to directly give back to charitable organizations and communities in need through each purchase of our Mandala CZ Threadless End. We are proud to donate 50% of each Mandala Threadless End sold to a non-profit organization whose values we strive to uphold and support. Each quarter, we select a new non-profit to donate to, allowing us to support many amazing organizations. Through this project, we aim to advocate, raise awareness, and stand in solidarity with the selected non-profit. This quarter, we raised awareness and donation funds for The UNHCR - UN Refugee Agency.
The UNHCR is currently working on providing protection and humanitarian assistance to the 8 million displaced people fleeing Ukraine. This ongoing crisis situation in Ukraine escalated on February 24, 2022, following the Russian Federation’s military action in the country. Women and children make up 90% of people fleeing this crisis and are considered a vulnerable group, at risk of gender-based violence and sexual exploitation and abuse. As the crisis continues, humanitarian needs continue to grow. Of the 18 million in Ukraine who will be impacted by the ongoing war, 12 million are expected to need humanitarian assistance.
UNHCR is working tirelessly, distributing emergency supply kits containing items like thermal blankets and water cans. UNHCR is also setting up transit centers to assess the needs of newly displaced people and provide temporary shelter. The most vulnerable families are receiving cash assistance to address urgent needs. They are doing everything possible to keep people safe and get them back on their feet, but resources are limited. Food, shelter, medicines, and clean water are desperately needed.
